In the fall, Troop 486 annually sells live holiday wreaths as a fund-raiser.
Fund-raising is character-building and teaches initiative and persistence,
respect for money, and tracking inventory. Profits stay in our troop to
support scouting events, awards, and equipment.

This is the only fund-raiser we do for the troop. From the profits, for
every wreath a scout sells, $4 goes into his personal account to be used
for outings or summer camp fees. The rest of the profits go directly to the
troop.

Family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and business associates are all
potential customers. The glossy fliers we distribute to our scouts offer
pictures of the range of merchandise available. All greenery is living plant
material. Wreaths have been sprayed with a preservative to keep them
green up to 3 months.

Scouts will receive a sales packet with an order sheet, price list, and
color catalog.

Please remember to collect full payment at the time you take the order.
We do this so that the troop doesn't take a loss if the customer changes
their mind after we've already taken delivery of the merchandise from the
wholesaler.

We accept cash or checks only, no credit cards. Checks should be made
out to "BSA Troop 486." Record each order on the order form. For mail
deliveries, be sure to have the customer personally fill out and sign the
greeting card attached to the order form. Write the scout's first name on
the order form, so we can track sales. Two order forms are necessary,
one for scout-delivered items and one for mail-delivered items. More of
each kind of form are available. All order forms and money must be turned
in by the deadline on the form.

Scouts should pick up all merchandise they will hand-deliver on the pickup
date or make else special arrangements. Plan to deliver wreaths to your
customers soon thereafter. Mail-delivered items should arrive between
November 22 and December 10.
